Treat with rust remover, then buff with a cloth sprayed with WD-40.

Poor electrical connections where the track sections link, or the tracks may be tarnished. Try cleaning the track surfaces with a scrubbing pad, scotchbrite, or like it, where the train pulls power from as it moves along. That’s what I’d do first. If that doesn’t work, check connections at the track joints.

    buy the right one.

If it dusty, use compressed air to blow off the dust. If the tracks have a build up on them, I have used an eraser to remove it, and a q-tip with alcohol to remove the stuff from the tight areas.

How do you keep a model train from speeding up and slowing down on the tracks.?
When i run my trains the track acts like some sections have no current running through them and the train will speed up and slow down and sometimes stops.
